Wellness & Lifestyle Coaching

What exactly is Wellness Coaching you ask?

Wellness Coaching incorporates many natural health solutions to improve your health and wellbeing, both physically and emotionally. The gut-mood connection is pivotal to regaining your best health!

Australia has become increasingly interested in wellbeing due to the overwhelming evidence of our nation’s ill health. Obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, physical inactivity, excessive alcohol consumption and poor eating habits all contribute to this picture of poor health. This is where a ‘wellness coach’ can help.

A wellness coach’s role is to support positive choices resulting in greater resilience to better cope with stress, increase movement, manage weight and promote healthy eating. Using a holistic framework, we may choose to define wellness as the balance of body, mind and spirit, living with purpose and ageing gracefully.  Wellness coaching is the process by which we can gain all of that. The role of a wellness coach differs to that of a sporting coach, in that there are more subtle methods used that don’t involve ranting and raving, or even dishing out ‘advice’.

Rather a Wellness Coach will support, encourage and facilitate change in the direction you would like to move.  Wellness Coaching facilitates healthier behaviours and the inclusion of small steps toward implementing those healthy behaviours into a lifestyle often already crammed full of life’s ‘other stuff’.

Have you ever wondered what creates the gap between what people say they want and what they actually do?

Wellness Coaching can close this gap. Wellness coaches support clients in working out what they want, why they want it, what’s stopping them and only then, together, they create a plan for action. Through this supportive relationship, Wellness Coaches empower their clients with a focus on facilitation, rather than prescription.  The client starts to take responsibility, feeling more confident as they experience small successes and ultimately achieve more significant change than they would on their own.

In many ways, a Wellness Coach is an educator who helps others keep on track with their wellness plan. This does not only entail diet and exercise, but also focusses on other aspects of wellness with the client. Unlike a dietitian or physical therapist, who makes specific diet and exercise suggestions, a Wellness Coach will help you make better general choices that fit your unique lifestyle. Wellness Coaches help their clients find the motivation and tools to achieve their physical and emotional health goals. Having someone support your desire to change, help you become aware of potential barriers, develop strategies with you on how to negotiate these barriers and help you overcome any inner negativity that might get in the way, will allow you to take control of your own health and wellness. Wellness Coaching prioritises YOUR wellness.
